About The Release
"Take My Number" is an upbeat, soulful slice of bass song replete with warm keys and strings samples laid over kinetic breakbeats. Deep, round bass fills out this newest A-side from Atlantic Connection, a producer well-known for his liquid funk drum & bass output who is actually expanding to a wide range of tempos and styles while maintaining his signature sound. "Take My Number" crosses category boundaries and would fit well into a DJ set populated with anything from Todd Edwards- inspired garage and house to the newest song of artists Martyn and Joy Orbison.
On the B-side, "No Explanations" is a testament to Atlantic Connection's ability to perfectly craft emotion-capturing songs. With its deep vibe and crisp percussion, the track is a mellow, melancholy exploration of the nebulous zone that lies at the intersection of deep house, dubstep, and UK garage. The song simultaneously draws influences from all of these disparate styles yet fitting it neatly into a category proves surprisingly hard -- too breaks-driven for house or dubstep and more fluid than the off-kilter drum programming characteristic of garage and 2-step.
Both sides of this version have been getting help from a wide tons of artists: DJ Craze, Nadastrom, Slay The Noise, Mayhem and many more.
About Atlantic Connection
A producer, DJ, engineer, publishing company and record label owner, Atlantic Connection is pushing himself to the forefront of EDM with his soulfully-charged brand of bass song. A.C. has been a longtime contributor to liquid funk and drum & bass, first making his mark as a producer under the name Primary Operations with releases on category-defining labels like Constructive Source, Liquid V, C.I.A. / Advanced and Nice Looking Records. He then began his solo career in 2006 and has since gone on to version song on labels such as Soul:R, Spearhead, Fokuz and his own Westbay Recordings imprint. In 2008, A.C. expanded his musical repertoire far beyond drum & bass into house, hip-hop, and beyond with the version of his debut album Tomorrow's Not Enough. On the cusp of a newest decade, 2011 sees Atlantic Connection forging ahead into musical zone that escapes category classification with his special blend of soul-drenched samples, crisp breaks and deep bass that covers a wide range of tempos and styles.
