Homeless and dying in Yolo County - a social worker's view video
Twenty years ago, social worker Nancy Johnston found housing for babes whose mothers were dying of AIDs in Newest York Town. This prepared her for a career in hospice care. Actually she works for Yolo Hospice in Davis, CA. In caring for homeless recipients, she claims, "Everyone has a different storyline and you gotta figure out what is meaningful to them as they approach the end of life. It doesn't take very much." In this video, Nancy talks about the difficulty of finding facilities for homeless recipients to obtain hospice care. Sometimes it's on the ways, but this is not a practical or humane option.
