Reading English really can be a "globe of utmost joy without suffering". That is a comment of one of our Buddhist readers.
Our Reading Videos(Rovies) test to create reading an utmost joy without suffering, or at least tolerable without suffering.
We're kinda like the "Johnny Appleseed" of reading.
If you don't know "Johnny Appleseed", we posted a Rovie on him.
We are a nonprofit fully dedicated to making Rovies- Reading videos.
In the past 5 months, we have been read for over 2,500,000 mins from each corner and country in the globe.
We guess at least 50% more is read by groups, such as classrooms and by those that download the videos, which we strongly encourage.
What is a Rovie, well, it is a storyline, article, song, etc, that has synchronized text and audio, IN BIG PRINT, like you are reading actually.
At the moment all our videos are on YOUTUBE.
Our most known Rovie the last several months is Yankee Doodle Dandy.
Our blog is ListenandReadAlong.com.
95% of the videos come from the Voice of America or the Americanenglish.state.gov blogs. The another 5% are on the youtube channel ReadAlongClassics, featuring Plato, Francis Bacon, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Alice in Wonderland, Treasure Island and another classics.
There is an almost everyday 6 minute globe news, history, science, fiction, beginning English, the Presidents addresses and much more.
The finest bet for an organized view of what we have is at the web web ListenandReadAlong.com. It is currently a work in progress, but could obtain you where you wish to go.
But you can also find youtube by typing in key words, such as "Yankee" to search Yankee Doodle Dandy.
What are our actual targets?
Well, our main target at the moment is to place the whole "Making of a Nation Series" from the Voice of America, the History of the United States from beginning to today, about 220 Rovies, up.
At the moment we are at 140 and expect to be done by the end of August.
We love songs, but songs are very time consuming, a 2 minute song might take 2 full days to post, but we're working on it..
Actually a tiny about us, at the moment there are 2 ½ of us.
There is me, what you are listening to, and we have a social media expert, he takes care of the Fb, twitter and equipment of social media.
His name is Nate, and there is Megan, part time doing a bit of everything.
This channel was born when I realized my son preferred to read from the pc screen more than listen to me, I tried the robots that read text, but that didn't work out and finally arrived at this.
At the moment, we are, as far as I can search, the only zone to search a Rovie that has human voices, hopefully that changes.
Kindle tries to be a Rovie, but well, you'll just have to decide for yourself if they create it.
Feel nonpaid to contact us with recommendations, notes, wishes, criticisms, at [email protected] or you can leave a comment and we'll obtain back to you.
Thanks and hope you come back.
That is really cool and a nice concept. I want someone would do that for a language I now need to learn!
This was enjoyably funny!
These videos have been amazingly needed to both my students and myself! However I think ,if the conversations included the hesitation, fillers, and pauses native speakers naturally use in their daily talking ,these Rovies would be even more effective to train our listening comprehension. Thanks a lot !
Glad you like them...sorry so long to respond
