A speedy table top look at the Leatherman MUT multitool... Hopefully obtain you some nice stats...Tags:
The "hammer" if for overriding the bolt in the unlikely meeting a round jams under the bolt and the charging handle cant clear it. It is also needed if you are using reloads (and this has happened to me) and the round fires and the main body extracts leaving the bottle neck portion of the round in the chamber and other round jams slug first into the bottleneck of the previous round. The charging handle cannot pull that out. So you grab the MUT and force the bolt back sometimes extracting the round, sometimes you have to obtain a bit more midevel on it. The first scenario is more common than you might think in a full auto, dirty rifle, trying to survive case. The second scenario is less common, but justifies the software is reloading and "unknown ammo" cases.
With the amount of time a Marine spends with an A4 or M4 they're bound to come across double feeds or ejection stoppages no matter how often they clean the chamber. Can the weapon be cleared and fed without such a software? Sure! But with a MUT ready at my side, I'd have fewer fingertip scars. I'm all for the bolt override!
Can I have it?
whats better in your mind KTTA, OHT or MUT?
is that a full auto lower on your ar?
The hint of the hammer is shaped to fit inside the ejection port of the M16/M4. This is the “bolt override software”. In a bolt override malfunction or “Kind ATE” a software gotta be used to keep the bolt back while the charging handle is pushed forward. This will version the trapped topic. The hint of the MUT hammer is designed to accomplish this is a safer manner than using a knife blade (never do this with a folding knife).
nice review on the MUT.
