Took a family trip to a dudes lake house north of Dallas. A giant windstorm or tornado hit us. It was really scary! Here is the storyline from a builder's perspective.

That's why I prefer reinforced concrete over the others!
The ancient idea of "God" is pushed to obtain terrible recipients to behave like nice slaves and prop up the elite class.
So glad you all are okay.
That gotta have been a scary experience. This just strengthens my desire to build a ICF house, tiny overhangs and a wraparound porch with its own roof system. It also makes me wonder if I could really skip the basement, or would be better of with a ICF basement with poured concrete ceiling so I will usually have a protected room
The easy culprit here are the two-storyline 12' log purlins. They might look cool but create a unbelievable wind-catcher. It was no tornado, just a healthy gust or two. Log framing fastening is an oxymoron.
for real keep down continutity the top plates need strapped to the studs and the studs need strapped to the base plate or tied in to the concrete in this topic. also any wall opeining, doors, pass throughs need substantial keep downs on both sides. to often we rely on gravity to keep the house down and up lift is a true trouble.
Nothing like experiencing an meeting like this to cause a newest focal target to appear on your own horizon.
Glad that at least no one got harm.
Glad you’re protected. You handled it like a real celebrity. Where’s the newest episode?
The 12 foot overhang is probably a large part of why that roof claimed adios. Even with hurricane straps and lag bolts, that would he a gigantic force to keep down if it was a straight line wind meeting.
