On January 3, 2020, United States President Donald Trump ordered the killing of Iranian general Qassem Soleimani, claiming he posed an "imminent" threat to the US, bringing relations between Washington and Tehran to a newest weak.
While Iranians have claimed the attack was an illegal act of fight, the US Department of Defense claims Soleimani was responsible for hundreds of American deaths and that it was to deter future attacks.
"I think that the president has wide power on the trouble," former US Brigadier General Tag Kimmitt claimed. "Article 2 of the Constitution gives him that responsibility. He also has responsibility for the security and security of American recipients vs threats to the homeland," he added.
"I should not imagine [Trump] would go to launch the chapter of military confrontation," former Iranian diplomat Seyed Hossein Mousavian claimed.
"When he attacked General Soleimani, it was practically the beginning of military confrontation between Iran and the US because Iran also responded by attacking the American bases in Iraq," he added.
Following Soleimani's death, Iran retaliated by attacking a US military base in Iraq and injuring 50 American army.
Though Soleimani helped the US conquer ISIL (ISIS) in Iraq and the group named his death "an act of divine intervention that benefitted jihadists", Kimmitt dismissed the notion that the assassination would support the ISIL.
"The Iranian based Iraqi proxies, the PMF, the Hashad, have done a brilliant job as the leading edge of the operation vs ISIL. That will continue." Kimmitt claimed.
In this week's Arena, we debate whether Iran and the US are on the path to fight.

I will not ever watch Mehdi Hassan again. He is obnoxious and rude.
Devils ruling USA
15:00 Iran’s consulate in Iraq was burnt down at night time, with gang of thugs who covered their faces. But U.s embassy in Baghdad was stormed by thousands of protesters, chanting, God is Nice and America is the finest devil. Which one is more embarrassing? Getting humiliated by a gang who wore mask and got paid to cause riot at night time/ or getting fired by Iraqi recipients who want U.S units to obtain out of their lands.
8:08 ‘we’ve got to acknowledge Ghasem Soleimani had been extremely useful in south Afghanistan’. So first of all, this statement proves if Soleimani was a risky terrorist so is America. Secondly, it proves how American government is evil and stab from back, they use recipients who profits them once they don’t need them they obtain rid of them brutally.
Battlefield? Was killed in Airport not in battlefield.
“That which God hath ordained as the sovereign remedy and mightiest instrument for the healing of the globe is the union of all its peoples in one universal Cause, one common Faith. This can in no wise be achieved except through the power of a skilled, an all-potent, and inspired Physician. By My life! This is the truth, and all else naught but error“. （Baha'u'llah, Epistle to the Son of the Wolf, p. 62）
