I honesty cant belive this still happens...convulsions and seizures just hurt the brain. Why do you this epilepsy is a risky disorder that can slay you
Thank you for your important, candid, and informative channel. I had to sub! Sharing your ECT experiences is much appreciated. I have treatment-resistant depression and severe anxiety (I think of it as practically treatment-resistant as well, as unless I take more klonopin than I wish to I’m almost perpetually agitated and anxious...doesn’t matter if I’m alone in my apt even, I’m still usually anxious - it’s the closest one can obtain to living hell) Over the last couple decades I have taken 65+ meds and very several have helped. I have considered ECT for years, but still haven’t done it. I know a several ppl whose lives were saved by ECT so clearly there is a lvl of efficacy for some. You mentioned the short term memory troubles, that’s one thing I worry about - due to the depression and anxiety and all the meds my memory is already low 😞 I also considered vagus nerve stimulation, deep brain stimulation and more recently TMS, aka trans-cranial magnetic therapy; trouble is those 3 procedures are not covered by insurance and the TMS for example would’ve cost $11,000.00 and that’s with a “discount” according to the dr (!!) I recently did ketamine infusion therapy, which I have to claim has helped, although not nearly as much as I’d like - but I’d like to add that the efficacy rate for ECT and ketamine are related - ketamine isn’t invasive though, it’s just an IV, though I did have mild “trippy” experiences whilst doing it every time....it was mostly pleasant but also a bit weird if that makes sense. Again thank you for your channel - it’s inspiring and makes me wish to do a related channel about trd/anxiety etc.. But lol...the thought of trying triggers anxiety (surprise). -Kind regards

Allow's recap : They have NO IDEA how it works and why it works for those that does work. Allow's just acknowledge that right actually. They have NO IDEA how it works. None. And they're shocking your very brain hoping it changes your chemistry. It's just beyond stupid and in 2019 we could know better rather than treating patients like neanderthals.
I seriously don't like the concept about ECT.
This barbaric and extremely sadistic form of torture is just that: sadism on steroids. Just like you mentioned One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. In the ebook, electro-shock "therapy" is used as a weapon to punish those who resisted. Any idiot would claim us that putting electricity through your brain is NOT going to be "useful". FFS! There's dollars to be made by conducting this sick activity PLUS these quacks literally obtain their rocks off. I challenge you to search so much as a SINGLE member of the medical community that would voluntarily let this perverted activity to be administered to THEM. Someone who has seen it firsthand. You will search NONE. Why? Because it is a sadistic weapon vs the trusting or the mentally ill and they are getting paid to **ck you up. Some recipients obtain their jollies doing that and the mental health "profession" is rife with these sick individuals. I would seek legal support and sue them, if possible.
I knew someone who had it done and it really screwed her up. She was the meanest person and went from being cute to fugly. Dont do it recipients. Doctors just do it for the dollars recipients.
Before trying EST, mental health suffers could test a ketogenic diet. The diet changes brain chemistry, works for some epilepsy sufferes, obesity, diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, depression etc...... referances ...https://youtu.be/A6g_geYeL4U............... https://youtu.be/bWlE1ydXvZw
